Move from Buffer to PostEveryPlatform

Updated

You can import Buffer's documented general bulk-upload CSV into PostEveryPlatform. This preset reads a file you already have; it does not export your Buffer queue or connect to Buffer.

What moves

What stays behind, and why

Prepare your material in Buffer

  1. Use your existing general bulk-upload CSV, or use the channel settings Bulk Upload screen to download its template. Downloading a template is not an export of your queue. If your posts are only in Buffer, copy the material you want into the PostEveryPlatform template.

Click the Publish tab in the left sidebar. 2. Select the channel you want to upload posts to. 3. Click the gear icon (⚙️) next to the channel name to open the settings menu. 4. Click the General tab. 5. Click the Bulk Upload button. 6. Click Download Template.

  2. Check the general column names before importing. The Buffer preset reads Text, Image URL, Tags, and Posting Time. Buffer tags do not become PostEveryPlatform categories; the preview reports unused columns.

The column titles are case-sensitive and must match the template exactly ("Text", "Image URL", "Tags", "Posting Time").

  3. Keep Posting Time in the documented year-month-day layout. PostEveryPlatform asks you to choose the source timezone rather than inferring one from a timestamp that has no zone.

    YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm in 24-hour time.

Import into PostEveryPlatform

  1. Connect the social accounts you want to use, then open bulk import. Keep your original spreadsheet as a separate copy. If you are using the PostEveryPlatform template, its columns are text, accounts, date, time, timezone, media_url, first_comment, category, privacy, and made_for_kids.
  2. Drop the CSV and check the detected format. Select the matching preset or Native CSV / manual mapping. For an unfamiliar file, choose its text, date, time, and media columns. If a profile column exists, map each distinct value to a connected account or skip those rows. Without a profile column, select accounts for all rows.
  3. Confirm the source timezone when the file has none. A slash-date file may also need a day-first or month-first choice. The preview shows resolved dates and times in your workspace timezone. Explicit ISO timestamps with offsets in manual mappings retain their instant. Invalid dates and nonexistent daylight-saving times are flagged rather than shifted.
  4. Review text, accounts, media, privacy, and the resolved time on every row. Fix a row in the preview and check it again. Unknown populated safety columns stop the file; supported privacy and made_for_kids settings still pass through the normal platform checks. Skip rows that should stay out.
  5. Choose Save as drafts, Add to queue, or Schedule at the given times. Start with drafts if you need another review. The screen saves in batches of ten and shows each result. A file can contain up to 500 rows and 1 MB; the parse and commit steps both recheck what they accept.

Before you switch

Check the preview before replacing your old schedule. A CSV cannot transfer a connection, an analytics database, or an inbox. The PostEveryPlatform importer accepts post fields and saves them with the same checks as a post created in the app. It does not call the other scheduler's API.

Check privacy explicitly when moving sensitive posts. Blank privacy means public; a setting that cannot apply to a selected platform stops that row. For YouTube, made_for_kids accepts yes or no. PostEveryPlatform refuses a populated safety column it cannot interpret instead of silently discarding it.

A repeated local time during the fall daylight-saving change uses its first occurrence and shows a warning. A spring clock gap is an error. Recheck dates in the workspace preview before selecting the scheduling mode, especially if your source and destination timezones differ.

The general preset maps Image URL to media_url and splits Posting Time into date and time. Tags and other extra columns remain visible to the import checks, but unused organization fields are not copied into PostEveryPlatform. This guide does not promise preservation of Pinterest boards, titles, alt text, or other platform-specific fields; recreate unsupported fields in the composer.

Frequently asked questions

Does this transfer my account connections?

No. Connect each social account again in PostEveryPlatform. This file importer saves post data; it does not transfer authorization from another scheduler.

Can I keep posts as drafts while I check them?

Yes. Choose Save as drafts after reviewing the preview. Planned times are kept on drafts, while Add to queue uses PostEveryPlatform posting slots and Schedule at the given times uses the resolved row timestamps.

What happens to a row with an error?

The preview shows the reason. You can edit and recheck the row or skip it. A commit checks the row again, and a failed row has its own result so other valid rows can still save.

Are private posts and audience settings preserved?

Recognized privacy and made_for_kids values are checked against each selected platform. Unsupported populated safety columns stop the file. PostEveryPlatform does not assume that an unknown privacy label means public.

Is this a one-click Buffer queue transfer?

No. The supported preset reads the publicly documented general bulk-upload file. If you do not already have that file, copy posts into the PostEveryPlatform template or manually map a CSV you prepared. No Buffer login or token is requested by this importer.
